This map has been carefully restored and recreated onto a heavy 100% cotton canvas and not a fragile paper. My maps can be easily rolled to be presented as a gift or retrieved from storage to be unrolled to reveal a fascinating historical conversation piece. Search your family history and geneology.

The map appearance I am trying to achieve is that of a map that has been bound in an atlas that has been lovingly cared for over the last 100+ years, with the original hand coloring. On certain monitors and smart phones, colors may look excessively bright because your screen is lit from behind. I can assure you that the colors will not be so garish when you receive your map. Instead you will be appreciative of the heft and quality of the highly textured canvas, which can sustain a certain amount of rolling up and abuse. These were designed to be heirlooms.

Your map has a protective coating which allows it to be handled with reasonable care and to be framed WITHOUT heavy, breakable, glaring glass. Feel free to run your hands along the nicely textured surface.

AN IMPORTANT WORD ABOUT TRIMMING YOUR CANVAS:

Your map will come with unfinished edges. This provides extra protection in shipping and versatility in the presentation.

You will need to trim your canvas with sharp scissors to get the aesthetic look you desire. For pinning to your wall, the cutting line is obvious although some people leave additional margin at the bottom to accommodate the title.

If you intend to frame your map, you should not crop your map any further, but leave the excess margin for the framer to deal with.

You can also frame it yourself! Not all that hard to do. A rustic looking frame will enhance its appearance or just use the 4 map pins, provided at no charge, to tack to your wall or message board. There's also a little piece of decorative string to tie your map if you are gifting it!

Average:

I stumbled on Ed's site by accident when I found this map and have since bought another three. The replica maps are a good weight and are printed with a very high resolution, then have a light coat of finish on the front side. They are a bit under 2 feet by a bit under 3 feet in size - I have trimmed the unprinted margins off because I want to use this map for reenacting purposes, but these could stay in the event someone might want to frame them. Ed was great to work with and he can find just about any antique map in several dated editions and in both black and white and color. Buy Ed's maps - they are great!
